Welcome to XP Grinder.

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of the XP Grinder website, your XP Grinder account, campaigns, matchmaking, communication features and paid services, including XP Grinder Legend.

By creating an account, using XP Grinder or purchasing a paid membership, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Please read them carefully.

1. About XP Grinder

XP Grinder is an online platform designed to help tabletop role-playing game players and Game Masters discover, create and connect with campaigns and other users.

XP Grinder provides features which may include:

  • Player and Game Master profiles
  • Campaign creation and discovery
  • Campaign applications
  • Player and campaign matchmaking
  • Party Chat and other communication features
  • Account and profile customisation
  • Free membership
  • XP Grinder Legend membership
  • Other tabletop gaming and community features

Features may be added, changed or removed as XP Grinder develops.

2. Your Account

You may need an XP Grinder account to access certain features.

When creating and maintaining an account, you agree to provide information that is accurate and not deliberately misleading.

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity carried out through your account.

You should contact us if you believe somebody has gained unauthorised access to your account.

You must not attempt to access another user’s account without their permission.

You must not sell or transfer your XP Grinder account, or allow another person to use it for the purpose of circumventing these Terms or an account restriction.

3. Age Requirement – 18+ Only

XP Grinder is an adults-only platform. You must be aged 18 or over to create an account or use XP Grinder’s member features.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Creating a profile
  • Using matchmaking
  • Applying to campaigns
  • Creating or managing campaigns
  • Communicating with other users
  • Using Party Chat
  • Purchasing XP Grinder Legend
  • Participating in other account-based community features

When registering, you must provide accurate information about your age where requested.

You must not misrepresent your age in order to create or maintain an XP Grinder account.

XP Grinder may restrict, suspend or terminate an account where we reasonably believe the account is being operated by somebody under the age of 18.

We may request further information where reasonably necessary to investigate a suspected underage account.

If you believe somebody under the age of 18 is using XP Grinder, please report this to us through our Contact page.

XP Grinder’s 18+ restriction relates specifically to use of the XP Grinder platform. It does not mean that tabletop role-playing games generally are unsuitable for people under 18.

Unless we expressly state otherwise, XP Grinder does not independently verify the age or identity of every user. You should not assume that another user’s stated age or identity has been independently verified merely because they have an XP Grinder account.

4. Appropriate Use of XP Grinder

XP Grinder is intended to provide a welcoming platform for adults to discover, organise and participate in tabletop role-playing games.

You agree to use the website, its communication features and its community responsibly and lawfully.

You may use XP Grinder to:

  • Create and maintain your player or Game Master profile.
  • Discover tabletop role-playing campaigns and other players.
  • Create and manage campaigns.
  • Apply to join campaigns.
  • Review and manage campaign applications.
  • Communicate with players and Game Masters.
  • Use matchmaking and Party Chat features.
  • Customise your account using features available to your membership level.
  • Participate in the XP Grinder community.

5. Prohibited Use

You must not use XP Grinder to:

  • Harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or abuse another person.
  • Target another user with unwanted or repeated communications.
  • Discriminate against or deliberately demean another person on the basis of a protected characteristic.
  • Publish hate speech or content encouraging hatred or violence against people or groups.
  • Make credible threats of violence or encourage real-world violence.
  • Sexually harass another user or send unsolicited sexual content.
  • Exploit, groom or endanger children or young people.
  • Publish or distribute unlawful content.
  • Promote, arrange or facilitate criminal activity.
  • Scam, defraud or deliberately deceive another user.
  • Impersonate another person or organisation.
  • Create a false identity for fraudulent or harmful purposes.
  • Spam users or distribute unsolicited advertising.
  • Upload malware, malicious software or malicious code.
  • Attempt to damage or disrupt XP Grinder or another user’s device.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or information.
  • Scrape, harvest or systematically collect user information without permission.
  • Use bots or automated systems in a way that manipulates the platform or places unreasonable demand on its infrastructure.
  • Attempt to bypass security measures.
  • Circumvent an account suspension, ban or restriction.
  • Help somebody under the age of 18 obtain or use an XP Grinder account.
  • Use XP Grinder for any other unlawful purpose.

6. Tabletop Role-Playing Content

XP Grinder recognises that tabletop role-playing games can contain fictional themes that would be inappropriate or unacceptable if directed towards real people.

Campaigns may, for example, contain fictional combat, horror, villains, crime, conflict, death, romance or other mature themes.

The presence of such themes within a fictional game or campaign does not automatically constitute a breach of these Terms.

However, fictional or role-playing context must not be used as an excuse to harass, threaten, discriminate against or otherwise mistreat another user.

Game Masters should accurately describe their campaigns and, where appropriate, identify significant mature themes or content so prospective players can make an informed decision about whether a campaign is suitable for them.

7. Profiles and User Content

XP Grinder allows users to submit information and content which may include:

  • Profile information
  • Profile photographs and avatars
  • Campaign descriptions
  • Campaign applications
  • Messages
  • Images
  • Character or gaming information
  • Other user-generated material

You remain responsible for content that you submit.

You must not upload content that is unlawful, seriously abusive, deliberately misleading or which infringes another person’s rights.

XP Grinder may remove or restrict content where we reasonably believe it breaches these Terms, applicable law or another applicable XP Grinder policy.

8. Usernames, Avatars and Profile Information

You may use a gaming nickname, character name, pseudonym or avatar on XP Grinder.

However, these must not be used to deliberately impersonate another person or deceive users about your identity for fraudulent or harmful purposes.

Profile photographs, usernames, biographies and other publicly visible information must comply with these Terms.

9. Campaign Listings

Game Masters are responsible for campaigns they create and advertise through XP Grinder.

Campaign information should be reasonably accurate and must not deliberately mislead prospective players about important information such as:

  • Game system and edition
  • Campaign format
  • Online or in-person play
  • Location
  • Schedule
  • Availability
  • Significant campaign themes

Campaign listings must not primarily be used for spam, unrelated advertising or unlawful activities.

XP Grinder may remove campaign listings that breach these Terms.

10. XP Grinder Is a Platform

XP Grinder provides technology that allows players and Game Masters to discover and communicate with each other.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, campaigns listed on XP Grinder are created and managed independently by users.

XP Grinder does not ordinarily:

  • Organise user-created campaigns.
  • Select players on behalf of Game Masters.
  • Supervise games.
  • Attend gaming sessions.
  • Employ Game Masters simply because they use XP Grinder.
  • Guarantee that a campaign will take place.
  • Guarantee the identity, age, behaviour or suitability of another user.

Users are responsible for deciding who they communicate and play with and for making appropriate arrangements for their games.

Nothing in this section excludes responsibility that XP Grinder cannot lawfully exclude.

11. Communication and Party Chat

XP Grinder may provide communication features including Party Chat.

These features are intended to help users communicate about campaigns and tabletop gaming.

Users must communicate respectfully and comply with these Terms.

You must not use XP Grinder’s communication features to send:

  • Threats or harassment.
  • Unsolicited sexual content.
  • Spam.
  • Fraudulent messages.
  • Malicious links or files.
  • Unlawful content.

Users should respect other people’s boundaries.

If another user asks you to stop contacting them, you should normally do so unless further communication is reasonably necessary for platform administration or another legitimate purpose.

Disagreements about campaigns, game rules or play styles must not escalate into harassment or abuse.

12. Meeting Other Users

XP Grinder may help users discover campaigns that involve communicating or meeting with people they have not previously met.

XP Grinder does not ordinarily organise or supervise these meetings.

You are responsible for deciding whether you are comfortable interacting with or meeting another user.

When meeting somebody you have not previously met, you should take reasonable precautions. These may include:

  • Meeting for the first time in a public or established gaming venue.
  • Telling somebody you trust where you are going.
  • Making your own travel arrangements.
  • Avoiding unnecessarily sharing sensitive personal information.
  • Ending a meeting or interaction if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

An XP Grinder account, profile, campaign listing, application or match should not be treated as proof that a person is trustworthy or that information they have provided is accurate.

XP Grinder being an 18+ platform should not be treated as confirmation that we have independently verified the age of every user.

13. Reporting Users and Content

If you believe another user or piece of content breaches these Terms, you may report it using the reporting or contact options provided by XP Grinder.

This includes suspected accounts belonging to people under the age of 18.

Reports should be made honestly and in good faith.

Knowingly submitting false or malicious reports in an attempt to have another user penalised may itself constitute misuse of XP Grinder.

We may investigate reports and take proportionate action where appropriate.

14. Account Enforcement

Where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached, we may take action including:

  • Issuing a warning.
  • Removing content.
  • Removing a campaign.
  • Restricting access to particular features.
  • Temporarily suspending an account.
  • Permanently terminating an account in serious or repeated cases.

The action taken may depend on the seriousness of the behaviour, risk to other users and previous breaches.

Serious misconduct, security threats, suspected underage use or unlawful activity may result in immediate action without a prior warning.

Where reasonably appropriate, we may provide information explaining why action has been taken.

15. Circumventing Restrictions

You must not attempt to circumvent a suspension, termination, age restriction or other restriction imposed by XP Grinder.

This includes creating another account or using another person’s account for the purpose of avoiding a restriction.

Accounts reasonably believed to have been created or used for this purpose may also be restricted or terminated.

16. Illegal or Dangerous Activity

Where we reasonably believe activity on XP Grinder involves a serious and credible risk of harm or unlawful activity, we may take steps reasonably necessary to protect XP Grinder, its users or others.

This may include preserving relevant information or cooperating with lawful requests from appropriate authorities where we are legally required or permitted to do so.

Nothing in these Terms means that XP Grinder actively monitors every message, campaign or interaction between users.

17. Free Membership

XP Grinder provides features that can be used without purchasing XP Grinder Legend.

The precise features and limits available to free users may change as XP Grinder develops.

Any current restrictions or allowances applicable to free accounts may be displayed within XP Grinder.

18. XP Grinder Legend

XP Grinder Legend is an optional paid membership providing additional features and benefits.

The current price and benefits are displayed on the Legend page before purchase.

At the date these Terms were last updated, XP Grinder Legend costs:

£3.99 per month

Legend is billed monthly and automatically renews until cancelled.

There is no fixed minimum membership period beyond the billing period purchased.

19. Legend Payments

Payments for XP Grinder Legend are processed securely by Stripe.

XP Grinder does not directly store your complete payment card details.

When subscribing, you must provide a valid payment method and authorise the recurring subscription payment displayed before purchase.

20. Automatic Renewal

XP Grinder Legend is a recurring monthly subscription.

Unless cancelled, your selected payment method will automatically be charged for each new billing period.

The subscription price, billing period and recurring nature of the payment are displayed before you subscribe.

Information about the minimum contract/billing period and conditions for ending a distance contract must be provided before purchase.

21. Cancelling Legend

You can cancel your XP Grinder Legend subscription at any time.

You can normally do this through:

Subscription management is provided through the secure Stripe Customer Portal.

There is no additional fee for cancelling.

When you cancel, automatic renewal will stop.

Your Legend membership will normally remain active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

Your XP Grinder account will then return to the applicable free membership level.

22. Refunds and Cancellation Rights

Your cancellation and refund rights are explained in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which should be read alongside these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms or our Cancellation & Refund Policy is intended to remove or restrict statutory consumer rights available to you.

Where you subscribe to Legend, you request that provision of your Legend membership begins immediately.

Information about applicable cancellation rights and circumstances affecting those rights will be provided before purchase.

23. Failed Payments

If Stripe is unable to collect a subscription payment, it may attempt to collect the payment again.

Where payment for a Legend subscription has not been successfully received, we may suspend or remove paid Legend benefits as appropriate.

You may be able to update your payment information through:

24. Legend Features

Legend may provide benefits such as:

  • Increased campaign or participation limits.
  • Additional profile customisation.
  • Cosmetic features.
  • Legend status or badges.
  • Other features displayed on the Legend page.

The particular features included with Legend may develop over time.

We may make reasonable changes to Legend as XP Grinder develops.

Where a material change significantly affects an existing paid subscription, we will provide appropriate notice or options where required.

25. Price Changes

We may change the price of XP Grinder Legend in the future.

Any new price will be clearly displayed to new subscribers.

Where a price change affects an existing subscription, we will provide appropriate advance notice and any options or rights required by applicable law before the new price takes effect.

26. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your XP Grinder account using the functionality provided or by contacting us.

Deleting your XP Grinder account and cancelling a Legend subscription are separate actions.

If you have an active Legend subscription, you should cancel it through Manage Legend Subscription before requesting account deletion to ensure future subscription payments are stopped.

Personal information associated with deleted accounts will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection requirements.

27. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, XP Grinder’s branding, logos, website design, original graphics, software, written content and other original materials belong to XP Grinder or are used with appropriate permission or licence.

You may use XP Grinder for its intended purposes.

You must not reproduce, sell, redistribute or commercially exploit protected XP Grinder material without permission except where permitted by law.

28. Your Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of original content that you upload to XP Grinder.

By uploading content, you grant XP Grinder permission to host, store, process, reproduce and display that content to the extent reasonably necessary to operate XP Grinder and provide its features.

You must only upload content that you own or otherwise have permission to use.

If you believe content on XP Grinder infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us with enough information for us to investigate.

29. Third-Party Games and Trademarks

XP Grinder is designed to support users playing a range of tabletop role-playing games and systems.

Names, trademarks, logos, artwork and other intellectual property belonging to tabletop game publishers, creators and other third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

The inclusion or discussion of a game system on XP Grinder does not itself imply that its publisher or creator sponsors, endorses or is affiliated with XP Grinder.

30. Commercial Activity and Spam

XP Grinder is primarily intended for tabletop gaming and community use.

Unless XP Grinder specifically provides functionality allowing it, you must not use profiles, campaign listings, Party Chat or other community features primarily for:

  • Unsolicited commercial advertising.
  • Mass marketing.
  • Affiliate spam.
  • Unrelated recruitment.
  • Repeated promotion of unrelated commercial services.

This does not prevent normal discussion of relevant tabletop games, products, venues, conventions, services or events.

31. Availability of XP Grinder

We aim to keep XP Grinder available and functioning reliably but cannot guarantee that the website will always be uninterrupted or error-free.

XP Grinder may occasionally be unavailable because of circumstances including:

  • Maintenance.
  • Software updates.
  • Technical problems.
  • Hosting or network failures.
  • Security incidents.
  • Circumstances reasonably outside our control.

Where reasonably possible, we will work to restore affected services.

Nothing in this section removes statutory rights you may have in relation to a paid service.

32. Changes to XP Grinder

XP Grinder is an evolving service.

We may introduce, modify or discontinue features where reasonably necessary to develop, maintain or protect the platform.

We will not use these Terms as an unrestricted right to make unfair changes to a paid consumer contract.

Where a change materially affects an existing paid subscription, we will provide appropriate information or notice where required.

33. Third-Party Services

XP Grinder may rely on third-party services to provide certain functionality.

For example, Stripe processes Legend subscription payments and provides subscription-management functionality.

XP Grinder may also contain links to external websites and services.

Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for an independent third-party service merely because XP Grinder links to or integrates with it, although nothing in these Terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

34. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.

XP Grinder provides a platform through which users can discover and communicate with other tabletop gaming users.

We are not responsible merely because a disagreement, unsuccessful campaign or other issue occurs between independent users who met through XP Grinder.

We do not guarantee that:

  • Another user will respond to you.
  • An application will be accepted.
  • A match will result in a campaign.
  • A campaign will take place or continue.
  • You will enjoy or be compatible with a particular group.
  • Information provided by another user will always be accurate.
  • Another user’s identity or age is necessarily accurate.

However, nothing in these Terms excludes responsibility that the law requires us to accept.

35. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

You should read the Privacy Policy alongside these Terms.

Information collected for age-related purposes will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law.

36. Cookies

XP Grinder uses cookies and similar technologies.

Information about the cookies we use and your available choices is provided through our cookie consent system and Cookie Policy.

Some cookies are necessary for the operation, security or functionality of XP Grinder and may be used without consent where permitted by law.

Other technologies will be handled according to applicable consent requirements.

37. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms where reasonably necessary, including because of:

  • Changes to XP Grinder.
  • Introduction of new features.
  • Changes to applicable laws or regulations.
  • Security requirements.
  • Changes to the way our services are provided.

The latest version will be published on XP Grinder and the Last updated date at the top of this page will be changed.

Where a change materially affects an existing paid subscription or your rights, we will provide appropriate notice where required.

38. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also have mandatory rights under the laws applicable where you live, including rights concerning where legal proceedings may be brought.

Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory protections available to you under applicable consumer law.
